Equipment

  • Large glass or plastic container with a lid (such as a Mason jar or a glass jug)
  • Fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • Coffee grinder (optional)
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • - 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
  • - 4 cups cold water

Instructions

  • Combine the ground coffee beans and cold water in the large container. Stir to combine.
  • Cover the container with a lid and let it steep in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours, and up to 24 hours.
  • After the steeping time has passed, use the strainer or cheesecloth to strain the coffee into another container. Discard the grounds.
  • Transfer the cold brew coffee to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

- Use a dark roast coffee for a bolder flavor, or a light roast for a smoother flavor.
- Adjust the steeping time to your liking, but keep in mind that a longer steeping time will result in a stronger coffee.
- Experiment with different coffee-to-water ratios to find your perfect balance.
